reading

my summary

Davlyn: the 3rd of august 1915, Tipu was reading Rongo’s letter that was made in may and made in egypt, but the letter had travelled through england. Tipu already read the same letter too many times, but this time he did not listen, instead he imagined that he was at war with his brother doing the haka. Tipu was torn to not be with his brother.

what I know about Gallipoli

Davlyn- in world war one the great big George died and it was all over the news paper. Gallipoli was where WW1 took place and there is a public holiday called anzac day, gallipoli is in turkey. Anzac stands for australia new zealand army corps. Anzac Day started in april 25 1915. 2779 New Zealanders died and 44,000 allied soldiers died. It lasted 10 or 9 months, they got there on april 15 and left january the 9th.

Explain in your own words what the New Zealand soldiers did in Egypt. Use pictures or maps to help. Include the words ‘Massey’s Tourists’.

Davlyn- they had to train in the egypt so it was so hot. They practice their bayonet skills a bayonet is a knife that you strap to the tip of the gun and so if someone is tobecloseto that you can’t shoot them you would stab them with the bayonet.
