My reflection

I think PIXTON is an outstanding tool that can help us learn how to explain more and to  be more creative, it helped us with our maths to explain more and explain better and it helps us with our writing to put more detail. I think PIXTON is a great opportunity for kids to learn more.
I think this year, really help me improved more with my maths because I learnt different kind of things like for example timesing decimals, explaining more and learning how to find percentage.

John Pule part 3

John Pule part 2

How to integrate information and make inferences.
I am wondering why there are several references in this first section to the sea, and if I read and think about each one of these statements, I think that they are telling us something important about what has inspired this artist. Read these specific parts again with your partner and then combine them to work out what you think the writer is telling you.

John Pule questions part 1

Why do you think he wasn’t doing much or saying much?
Because he was staring at the horizon

What was he actually doing?
Thinking for what his gonna do
What does “soaking up” mean to you?
Absorbing
What was he soaking up?
Non-stop energy

Hungry guy

One cloudy afternoon, a hungry, barefoot, shirtless, crazy man tried to grab some fruit from the pawpaw tree. The fruit was green as the grass and as sweet as candy. The man was as hungry as a bear, he was also as tall as a giraffe and the plant was as small as a dwarf. It is funny that the crazy tall man climbed the short tree and bent down to get the fruit.

Term 3 reflection

This term was very fun we did many things, had amazing events, we have learnt and experienced a lot.

The first event we had was Tongan language week, it was a massive celebration. We had a big feast, when we performed (room 6, room 7, room 5 and room 8) we did great and proud. Next, was the Maori language week. We didn’t do much except the Kapa Haka group. They performed well. After that we had a big bike day event it was about us getting new bikes, they were very cool bikes. When were there we had some activities for us to do, they were riding the bikes obviously, making badges, eating cookies and drinking milo and eating SAUSAGES!!!

I also have learnt a lot, I’ve learnt how to write recounts, asking critical questions and multiplying percentages. The things that I have been struggling on is comprehension in reading and expression formulas in math. I have set goals for me, they are Learning formulas, using more similes, metaphors and personification and asking myself more critical questions.

Next term I will be trying to achieve all my goals by doing my best and never give up.

There we about 14 people in each line and there were 5 lines, i was in the 3rd line. it was super cold because it was raining and we were not wearing shoes so my feet was sour and could. When we got inside the hall, my brother came and told me to go to my mum and dad to put on costume it was cauld a tupenu I had a headpiece called a teiki.

After I get dressed I ran back to my seat, we had a lot of visitors one of the visitors came up and told us how lucky samoan people and togan people are she said they were lucky because a lot of the kids can talk in those 2 languages. After that the little kids sang the togan alphabet there were fantastic, then pauliasi sang then room 9 boys did a togan dance. Then it was the great togan group.

Rainforest presentation

Today I am going to describe what a rain forest is and going to tell you how much layers it has. I am also going to tell you were the layers are and tell you the animals that live in each one.

A rain forest is a forest that gets a lot of rain and that makes it very damp but at the top of the rainforest is really hot and humid. About the layers, there are four layers there is the emergent layer, canopy, understory and forest floor.

The first layer is the emergent layer is located at the top it is very windy, damp and hot. It is hot because the sun always shines there because most of the rainforest are on the equator. Most of the animals in the emergent layer is birds because the emergent layer is all the way at the top of the rainforest so only the birds can fly up. Did you know that the emergent layer 150 feet tall.

The next layer is the canopy, the canopy is located right under the emergent layer the canopy is the thickest part of the rainforest it hardly lets any sunlight inside of the rainforest canopy is so thick that it only lets 5% of the sunlight in. The things that live in the canopy are sloths, insects, frogs and monkeys. The canopy also is the also the cover for the rainforest.

After that layer, there will be an understory layer it is right under the canopy. The understory is were most animals live, like insects, bats, monkeys, snakes, lizards, jaguars and frogs. It also is very hot because the canopy is like a omnisphere it traps all the hot air so inside of the canopy will be very hot. Most of the animals there are poisonous and dangerous, like snakes, frogs and jaguars.

The last layer is the forest floor is located all the way at the bottom. Most of the forest floor animals do not fly they walk. They also don't just stay in forest floor they go to the understory to go and get food. Some of the animals that live in the forest floor are anteaters, jaguars and heaps of insects.

Captain James Cook

My Christchurch sentence

It was an upsitting afternoon in Aotearoa, 50 innocent people died and 42 got injured. Just because one intolerant person with a heart full with hatred so he killed different colored people. A horrible person killed a lot of people just because they were a different skin color. I was so overwhelmed by how many people 3 people could kill. If I was there I would be extremely terrified.

Vocab about my reading

the food/drink race

On Tuesday morning it was a bright sunny day, the grass was glissining and the sun was shining. Just when I Got into class Miss Tafea said “line up.” Me and my friends kept on asking “where are we going?” but she didn’t answer. When Miss Tafea called for helpers (I was not one of them) they went to the hall. The helpers were Railey, (one of my friends) Kayden, Vaiola and Lily, when they went the rest of the class went into Rm6.

When we got into Rm6 Miss Shama (Rm6’s teacher) she told us what we they went into the hall for. She said “they went down to the hall to make an obstacle course.” then she asked us for words to wright in a recount that we had to do after the race. After that we all had to line up, once we did we walked down to the hall. But they weren't in there they were outside.

Once we get there I was so amazed and stunned of how hard it looked first you had to put an apple onto a plastic spoon. secondly you had to eat a piece of bread hanging from string and eat without your hands. Lastly you had to drink a carton of milk then fold it then run back and give it to the next person.

We had to split up into teams of 6 people I was the 3rd to last person in my team to run. I kept on dropping the apple, but I finally did it. On the bread part I struggled, But I started to get frustrated, then I reaped of the bread with the string. I took a long time to eat my bread but I did it so I drink my milk like an elephant drinking water then I zoomed back to Railey.

Even though I was I was determined to win but came second I had a lot of fun.

The great epidemic flu of 1918 reflection

Today I reflect on one of my stories to see whether I have made any progress. Each week I will reflect and work on it in the following week because I want to achieve L3 at the end of the year.

1918-1919 influenza pandemic was the most devastating thing in history. In the world war, 1 nine million people got killed around the world. Some people in the war had the great epidemic flu, it raged around the world in 1918.

Although the Medical experts attempted to keep the viruses away. The arrival of the SS Niagara brought many cases of sickness with them, Also a crew member on the ship died. Some people blamed them for carrying the flu with them.

After that, The Health Department gave sick people small bottles of Stout, Whisky and Brandy to ease the pain. But it did not cure the sickness. There were emergency kitchens for the families that were not well enough to make their own food. A lot of the doctors were still coming on the ships because of the war.

Towns become ghost towns because of the epidemic flu killing everybody. Trains stopped running, Many Theatres, Schools, Shops and Churches were closed.
